A standard lock keeps honest people honest, but it can often be picked, bumped or drilled by someone with the right tools and a little practice. High security locks are built to resist those methods. They use tighter tolerances, more complex pin or sidebar systems, hardened inserts that protect against drilling, and keys that are harder to copy without authorization.

Since 1987, Crenshaw Lock Company has been installing and rekeying locks around Los Angeles and Ventura County, led by owner and lead technician David Shar. We are fully mobile, so we come to your property, look at the door, the frame and the hardware you already have, and help you choose a lock that fits how you actually use the space.

A high security lock is only as strong as the door it sits in, so we look at the whole entry point rather than just the cylinder. Whether you want better protection for a front door, a rental unit, an office, a storage room or a gate, we will explain the tradeoffs plainly and install the hardware on site.

How our high security locks service works

  1. 1

    Talk through your needs

Call (323) 997-8867 and tell us what you want to protect, what worries you, and what locks are on the door now. We will help you think through whether high security cylinders, deadbolts or a full hardware upgrade makes sense.

  2. 2

    Assess the door and frame

We come to you and inspect the door, strike plate, frame and existing hardware. A strong lock in a weak frame still leaves a weak point, so we point out anything that should be reinforced.

  3. 3

Choose the lock and key system

We go over high security options and how their keys work, including restricted keyways that limit unauthorized copying. You decide how many keys you need and who should be able to get duplicates.

  4. 4

    Install and fit the hardware

We install the new lock on site, making sure the bolt throws smoothly, the door closes cleanly and everything aligns with the frame. If the existing prep needs adjusting, we handle it.

  5. 5

    Test and hand over keys

We test the lock from both sides, cycle it with each key, and walk you through how to use and care for it. You receive your keys along with guidance on how to order additional ones.

What affects the price

  • The lock brand and security level you choose, since restricted-key and drill-resistant models vary widely in cost
  • The number of locks or doors being upgraded in one visit
  • Whether the door or frame needs reinforcement, such as a new strike plate or door prep work
  • How many keys you need and whether they are restricted keys with controlled duplication
  • The type of door and existing hardware, such as a residential deadbolt, commercial door or gate
  • Time of day and location of the visit, including after-hours or urgent requests

Why choose us

  • Fully mobile service: we install at your door instead of asking you to bring hardware to a shop
  • In business in the Los Angeles area since 1987, with owner David Shar as lead technician
  • We evaluate the door and frame, not just the cylinder, so you are not paying for protection a weak frame undermines
  • We explain restricted key systems plainly, including what they do and do not protect against
  • Available 24/7 if a break-in or lost key makes upgrading your locks urgent

High Security Locks — FAQs

What makes a lock high security?
High security locks are designed to resist common attacks like picking, bumping and drilling. They typically use more complex internal mechanisms, hardened components and keys that are harder to duplicate without permission.
Will a high security lock make my door impossible to break into?
No lock is unbeatable. A high security lock makes certain quiet attacks much harder, but the door, frame and strike plate matter just as much. We check those during our visit and tell you honestly what we see.
What is a restricted key?
A restricted key uses a keyway and blank that are controlled, so copies generally cannot be made at an ordinary key kiosk. Duplicates are ordered through an authorized process, which helps you control who has access.
Can you install high security locks on my existing door?
In many cases yes. We inspect the door and the current hardware first. Call (323) 997-8867 and describe your door, and we can tell you what is typically involved.
Do you install high security locks for businesses and rental properties?
Yes. Offices, shops, storage rooms and rental units often benefit from controlled keys, since you can limit duplication when tenants or employees change.
Do I need to come to a shop to choose a lock?
No. We are fully mobile and bring the options to you. You can see the hardware at your door and decide on site.
Can you do this after hours or in an emergency?
Yes, we are available 24/7. If you have had a break-in or lost keys and want to upgrade right away, call (323) 997-8867.
What happens to the old locks?
We remove them during installation. If you want to keep them, just let us know and we will hand them over.
