A door closer is easy to ignore until it fails. Then the door slams, drifts open, or stops short of the latch, and a lock that is otherwise fine will not secure the building. Hydraulic closers also affect accessibility, fire-rated openings and how the door wears on its hinges and frame, so a worn one is more than a nuisance.

We are a mobile locksmith company, in business since 1987 and led by owner David Shar. We bring the tools and common closer hardware to your shop, office, restaurant, medical suite, apartment lobby or warehouse, so there is no need to remove the door and haul it anywhere. Many closer problems are adjustments or leaks that can be diagnosed on the spot.

We look at the whole opening: the closer, its arm and mounting, the hinges, the latch and strike, and the door's weight and swing. Closers often get blamed for problems that really come from sagging hinges or misaligned strikes, and we would rather fix the cause than replace a part that was working.

How our door closer repair service works

  1. 1

Tell us what the door is doing

Call (323) 997-8867 and describe the symptom: slamming, slow or no closing, oil leaking, a door that will not latch, or a bent arm. Tell us the door type (glass storefront, steel, wood, exterior or interior) so we can plan for the right hardware.

  2. 2

    Inspect the full opening

On arrival we check the closer body, arm, brackets and mounting screws, then the hinges, door alignment, latch and strike. We confirm whether the closer itself is at fault or whether something else is stressing it.

  3. 3

    Adjust where possible

Many closers have valves controlling sweep speed, latch speed and sometimes backcheck. If the unit is sound, correcting these settings and tightening loose mounting may be all the door needs.

  4. 4

    Repair or replace the closer

If the closer is leaking fluid, has lost its damping, or has a damaged body or arm, we explain the options and replace it with a unit suited to the door's size, weight and use. We fit it to the correct mounting position and check clearances.

  5. 5

Test and walk you through it

We cycle the door repeatedly, confirm it closes fully and latches without slamming, and check that it opens without undue force. We show you what we changed so staff know what normal operation looks like.

What affects the price

  • Whether the job is an adjustment, a repair, or a full closer replacement
  • The door's size, weight and material, which determine the closer type needed
  • Whether the existing mounting holes and bracket can be reused or the door or frame needs prep
  • Hardware needs such as a different arm style, a hold-open feature, or compatibility with fire-rated or accessible openings
  • Related issues found on the opening, like worn hinges or a misaligned strike
  • The number of doors being serviced in one visit, and the time of day or after-hours timing

Why choose us

  • Fully mobile service: we come to your business rather than asking you to bring hardware anywhere
  • Closers are diagnosed as part of the whole opening, so we do not replace parts that only need adjusting
  • Locksmith experience since 1987, so closer work is paired with knowledge of locks, latches and strikes
  • 24/7 availability for doors that will not close or secure a building overnight
  • Clear explanation of repair versus replacement before we proceed

Door Closer Repair — FAQs

How do I know my door closer needs repair?
Common signs are a door that slams, closes too slowly, stops before latching, drifts open, or has oil on the body or nearby floor. A bent arm or loose mounting is another clue. Call (323) 997-8867 and we can help sort out what you are seeing.
Can a door closer just be adjusted?
Often, yes. Most hydraulic closers have valves for sweep and latch speed, and loose screws or brackets can also cause problems. If the unit is leaking or has lost its damping, replacement is usually the sound option.
Why is oil leaking from my closer?
A leak usually means a failed seal, and the closer will gradually lose its ability to control the door. At that point it generally needs to be replaced rather than repaired.
Will a new closer fix a door that will not latch?
Not always. Latching trouble can come from a misaligned strike, sagging hinges, or weather and air pressure on the door. We check the whole opening so we fix the true cause.
Do you work on glass storefront doors?
Yes, we service closers on many commercial door types, including glass, aluminum, steel and wood. Let us know the door type when you call (323) 997-8867 so we bring suitable hardware.
Can you replace several closers in one visit?
Yes. If you have multiple doors, we can inspect and service them together, which is practical for buildings with several entrances or tenant doors.
Do you come out after hours?
We are available 24/7. If a door will not close or secure your building, call (323) 997-8867 and we will arrange a visit.
Do I need to take the door off?
Generally not. We work on the door in place at your location, and only remove it if something else on the opening demands it.
