Losing the key to your Lexus ES is stressful, especially when the car relies on a proximity Smart Key and push-button start. Whether you have misplaced your only fob or want a spare before something goes wrong, we can help without you having to tow the car anywhere.
Crenshaw Lock Company has served Greater Los Angeles and Ventura County since 1987, and we are fully mobile. We have no shop; we come to wherever the vehicle is parked, whether that is your home, workplace or a parking structure. We handle both a spare key when you still have a working one and the all-keys-lost situation when you have none.
The exact key, chip and programming for your ES depend on its trim and VIN. Before cutting or programming anything, we confirm the correct key by VIN so the replacement works properly with your specific vehicle.
Lexus ES key systems by year
Earlier years: Proximity Smart Key with push-button start and a mechanical emergency blade
These ES models use a proximity Smart Key that lets you start the car with a push button while the fob stays in your pocket or bag. Inside the fob is a mechanical emergency blade you can use to open the door if the fob battery is weak. Replacement generally involves identifying the correct fob and emergency blade for your car, cutting the blade if needed, and programming the new fob to the vehicle. Because the exact key and programming depend on trim and VIN, we confirm the correct key by VIN before cutting. This applies for a spare or an all-keys-lost situation.
Recent years: Encrypted proximity Smart Key fob; programming confirmed by VIN
Newer ES models use an encrypted proximity Smart Key fob, which communicates securely with the car for entry and push-button start. Replacement generally involves matching the correct fob to your vehicle and programming it so the car recognizes it. The right fob and programming depend on the trim and VIN, so we confirm everything by VIN before proceeding. We can do this as an added spare or when every key has been lost, and we come to you.
Exact key, chip and programming vary by trim and VIN — we confirm the right key for your car before cutting.
How we replace your key
- 1
Call and describe the situation
Contact us at (323) 997-8867 and tell us your ES model year, where the car is, and whether you have a spare key or have lost all keys.
- 2
We come to your vehicle
We are fully mobile, so a technician travels to your location anywhere in Greater Los Angeles or Ventura County. There is no shop to visit.
- 3
Verify ownership and VIN
We check your photo ID and proof of ownership, then read the VIN to confirm the correct key for your trim.
- 4
Prepare the key
Once the key type is confirmed by VIN, we prepare the correct Smart Key fob and cut the emergency blade if your key requires one.
- 5
Program and test
We program the new key to your Lexus, then test entry, push-button start and any other keys you want working before we finish.
